Park Hills Baptist Church exists to glorify God by proclaiming Christ, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ (Colossians 1:28, ESV).

1. By our life together, as a local church, we seek to display the character of God

The local church is designed by God to be the community where believers grow into Christ through speaking the truth in love to each other and doing their part in the body of Christ.

Biblical foundation: Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love (Ephesians 4:15-16, ESV).

As such, the church is designed to be a display of God’s wisdom. So that through the church the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places (Ephesians 3:10, ESV).

We teach all members of our congregation to have a clear understanding of the Gospel, of conversion, and of church membership and discipline. We teach all members to treasure God’s Word as revealed in the Holy Bible, since it is used by the Holy Spirit as our only source for life and growth. We teach all members to grow in their understanding of the overall unifying message of the entire Bible, and to do evangelism and discipleship faithfully and fearlessly.

Our Church Covenant is a summary of the Biblical commitments we make to one another. Our Statement of Faith is a summary of the Biblical truths that we hold together.

2. Christ-like maturity is our objective

We seek to glorify God by pursuing His plan for our lives to become followers of Christ who grow into Christ-like maturity. Our objective begins in proclaiming Christ to all people and ends with seeking to lead them towards Christ-likeness.

Biblical foundation: Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ. (Colossians 1:28, ESV).

Christ-like maturity becomes evident as we grow:

(a) in our communion with God;

(b) in our community with the other believers; and

(c) in our commission to the world.

3. The Bible is central and authoritative for our life and worship

The only guide and source for pursuing our objective is the Word of God as found in the Christian Bible. Therefore, it is both central and authoritative for our life and worship. We seek to regulate our individual and corporate lives by its instructions.

Biblical foundation: All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by His appearing and His kingdom: preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction.” (2 Timothy 3:16-4:2, ESV).
